37 Weeks Pregnant - Officially Full Term

Wow, 37 weeks. Officially full term. I am so glad that we don't have to wait until the full 40 weeks to be full term...I'd really rather not be pregnant that long!

In fact, I almost thought we weren't even going to make it to 37 weeks. I've been having contractions for a week now and thought I was actually going into labor on Monday. Although I didn't want my baby to be preterm, a New Year's baby seemed pretty cool, too.

Alas, it was not meant to be, as I am still pregnant. I really can't complain much. My pregnancy has been really easy. And as I look back on where I was 37 weeks ago, I can't believe how far Jon and I have come as a couple and as a family.

Still, pregnancy is not the most comfortable situation, and I'm impatient to hold my sweet baby boy. There are times that I'll be lying on my couch, cuddling with my kitten, and I'll picture holding my little baby instead. I picture tickling his little feet, playing with his little bits of hair on his head (if he has any), or kissing his little chubby cheeks. And times like those, I try to will my water to break or contractions to start at any minute. Unfortunately, it doesn't work like that.

My sweet boyfriend got me a kitten for my birthday in October (I guess he finally got sick of me shoving kitten pictures in his face), and I've loved the little family we've become. Jon is so great with the kitten and it makes me smile thinking about how great of a father he will be to Travis, too. I am so impatient to bring our son home and have him be a part of this family too. I can't wait to see how Jon reacts to cries in the middle of the night, diaper changes, bath time, and just the baby in general. He is an amazing person and is so great with kids. I'm so lucky to have him as the father of our son.

I'm also nervous and excited to see how life changes with the baby's arrival. I'm completely clueless with how babies act and am so thrilled to see how this journey with our little man will go. I can't wait until he's here and we get to learn his different cries, what makes him smile, his favorite toys and stories, and everything. I can't wait to learn how to not get peed on while changing his diaper, how to hold him while I feed him, and his favorite position to sleep in.

Less than three weeks until my sweet angel will be born and I get to hold him in my arms. He can safely make his debut at any time and we can know that he will be alright. I'm so blessed to have been able to carry to term and that my pregnancy has been extremely easy and uncomplicated. I can't wait for the end result. :)

  5. What a sweet post. My girl will be 7 next month and I still remember the excitement at the end of the pregnancy. Take lots of pictures and enjoy the first year. A great mantra to remember is with kids, "The days drag on, but the years fly by".
